Fastest Way To Change Your Life? Get A Mentor
FOR YOUR CONSIDERATIONÂ đ
This is one of my favorite metaphors:
Life is the classroom.
Youâre the student, life is the teacher. Pretty simple and youâve probably heard something like that before or thought of it yourself. But hereâs a subtle twist on the metaphor - you arenât simply the student or a victim of circumstances, you are also the teacher, the mentor, and your coach. đ¤
Why mentor & coach? Because if you realize an important truth, you need to create the lesson (plan) to be able to 'continue' teaching yourself and guide others, like your family, team, etc.
If you only look at your current situation or experience and exclaim âwhy does this always happen to me??!!â you risk becoming biased or jaded by both the experience and your perception.
We must look at the metaphoric lesson in a way that compels us to introspect, to re-think, and learn something about ourselves, our minds, and our behavior.
So in keeping with the school theme, life is the lesson but you are also the teacher.
You grade yourself. You teach yourself.
Did you get an A for Effort but an F for Attitude? Or was it F for Effort? đ
Do you pass or fail based on someone elseâs âuniversal bell curveâ? Or do you roll up your sleeves, own the experience and reinvent yourself?
You can get a fucking mentor by accepting this challenge.
If you canât lead yourself you probably canât take great advice either.

#becomethementor
FYI I learn from everything & everyone, thatâs my nature.
Bonus: I continue to develop my self-awareness.
Drawback: This can lead to overthinking.
Reframe: Becoming your mentor is a philosophical reframe. Real-life mentors can augment and accelerate how you learn. I have several coaches and mentors, but because I also work on my self-awareness I have the capacity to learn from books, memes, everyday âjoesâ, and thought-leaders. Itâs all about your desire to grow.

âMy name is Jason Woods and I am writing to send a little appreciation your way. Last night I had a decision to make and in the midst of the madness, I froze (unsurprisingly). In the moments after I started to see myself in the cycle of behaviour and negative visualisation and I was able to redirect my attention towards taking action as opposed to remaining stuck in place like a statue. It was an incredibly liberating experience to be able to KNOW and F.U.C.K fear in that way. I never thought that a model that seems so cognitive would be as helpful as it was in that situation but it was and I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for the work you have done in the past and continue to do.â

âI bought the KNOW FEAR course when I was in High School. I was a wrestler and competing at a high level, but I would always self-sabotage. My mind was not right. I would doubt myself, never believe I was capable, and always thought about what my opponent was going to do to me.Â
Your quote âIf I am so good, why am I so scared?â Was exactly how I felt.Â
The information within the course helped propel me into placing at the high school State wrestling Tournament, and the opportunity to wrestle in college.Â
Now I have a spot reserved to try out for Special Forces in the Army. From the wrestling mat to the battlefield, The KNOW FEAR course has been and will continue to be a tool for me to overcome fear and obstacles for the rest of my life.â
