The goal of these videos is to share our holistic approach to personal defense with you. There’s a very specific formula we’ve developed that enhances safety regardless of your experience or the martial art you practice.
The science and philosophy of our system complements any martial arts program, which is why 99% of our affiliates also teach Krav Maga, BJJ, Muay Thai, TKD, and more. As a lifelong martial artist, this makes me smile because it means our mission—to help make the world safer—is working.
Here’s a powerful example of SPEAR’s versatility:
For over a decade, I had the honor of training the Asymmetric Warfare Group (AWG). When they began working with us in the 2000s, it was the simplicity of the SPEAR Tactic (Fingers Splayed/Outside 90) and our reverse-engineering approach to scenarios that stood out. These principles helped operators protect themselves empty-handed, navigate crowds, engage combatants, and control firearms under stress.
This philosophy even inspired their “Outcomes-Based Training” program, a major component of their CATC shooting system. Seeing our methods shape such an elite unit was both humbling and inspiring.
I share this story to highlight the scope and depth of the SPEAR System® and to show how it can help you expand and grow your self-defense, DT, or combatives program—if you teach.
